2. Making sandwiches
Get together with your friends to make sandwiches and pack them in individual zip lock bags and drive around town and hand them out to those in need.
3. Lead Games for homeless children
Contact your local homeless shelters to find one that would allow you and your friends to come and play a game with the children that they serve. Visit Do Something to get great ideas on some of the games you can play with the kids.
4. Hold a blanket drive
Before holding a blanket drive visit the homeless shelter directory to find a local shelter and contact them to make sure they accept blanket donations. In order to make this a successful event, be sure to utilize all of your connections. Set a date and location for the blanket drive and create a Facebook event to invite everyone you know. Contact the local churches, schools and businesses to help you spread the word.
5. Chew for a better world
You can help the homeless simply by changing the brand of gum you chew. Telling your friends about House the Homeless gum is one simple way to make a difference. We are all busy and sometimes we feel like if we are not out there doing stuff, we can’t make a difference. That’s where Project 7 comes in. House the Homeless gum helps provide shelter for those in need. Currently, House gum is available at all 7 Eleven stores across America. So far, with your help, Project 7 has provided 27,925 days of shelter.
